# Bathroom Exhaust Fan Performance ### Issue Image: ![[Pasted image 20241121124402.png| Header Box Fan]] ![[Pasted image 20241121124423.png|Inline Fan]] ## Issue Description: - Header box fans are often preferred by some Contractors as they are easier to install, and do not require an access panel in the bathroom. - They produce roughly 30% less suction at a given power level as an inline fan. - They also produce much more noise. - For this reason Inline Fans shall be specified on all projects. - Bathoom exhaust outlets shall also be located closer to showers to improve exhaust performance. ## Actions to Prevent this Issue: - [ ] Mechanical Engineer shall specify Inline Fans. - [ ] Mechanical Engineer shall locate bathroom exhaust fans as close the the shower as possible. - [ ] Architect shall locate the exhaust fans as close to the shower as possible. ## Source
